This first-basic Yellow-legged Gull (Larus michahellis) was photographed by Detlef Gruber on 20th September 1998 at Lake Steinhude, Lower Saxony, Germany. Detlef states "First winter michahellis; see the blunt bill tip, rather white head, dark brown greater underwing coverts, dark primaries with a faint window (paler inner primaries), rather pale greater upperwing coverts, off-white uppertail coverts and well marked black terminal tail-band":
