This first-cycle Lesser Black-backed-type Gull was photographed February 25, 2008 in the Coastal Plain near Houston, Texas; note the heuglini-like pattern of the mantle/scaps, the rather long legs, the rather fine barring on the underwing coverts, pale band on the underwing formed by the paler median coverts, somewhat fresh-looking/unworn primary tips, and the contrastingly pale inner webs of the inner 4 or 5 primaries (from above):
