This first-winter presumed Lesser Black-backed
Gull (Larus fuscus ssp?) was photographed by
Martin Reid at Corpus Christi Landfill, Nueces County, Texas,
on March 09, 2004; it is strikingly small and dark, and quite
distinct from any of the normal variants of LBBG seen in Texas:
In flight the long, thin wings, pinched-in at the bases, created
a unique silhoutte:
