This 2nd-Basic Lesser Black-backed-type Gull was photographed in northern coastal Tamaulipas, Mexico on November 26 1998 by John Gee and Carol Edwards. The eye is unusually pale for a B2 bird, yet the bill, legs and plumage seem to rule out it being any older. I am now wondering if this might be an Atlantic Yellow-legged Gull or a Kelp x Smith. hybrid?:
