03, 2003 at the Linkcrest Landfill, Fort Worth, Texas:
Note above and below the very short tail, and extensive white
barring in the greater coverts:
A quite distinct tail pattern:
Note above and below that the undertails coverts are not as well-marked
as on most smithsonianus:
Note above and below that the 2nd-gen. mantle & scaps have
a most unusual pattern for smithsonianus:
The upper tertials on the right side are missing (being replaced?):
Note the distinct chevrons/wavy bars on the upper flanks, plus
the diffuse "scattered barring" effect on the underparts:
