This adult large gull was first photographed in difficult conditions (distant; heat haze) at Brownsville Landfill, Cameron county, Texas on February 07, 2015 - CLICK HERE to see images/analysis from this date. It was found again at the same site on February 21, and the much better photographs obtained confirmed its identity as a Vega Gull (Larus [argentatus] vegae):
My impression from the bill pattern, suggestion of a brownish tinge to some of the innermost wing coverts, and apparent lack of an obvious mirror on P9 is that this may be a 4th/5th-cycle
