This first-cycle gull was photographed in east Houston, Texas on March 15:




note the prominent gonydal angle, and obvious hook to the tip of the maxilla:

note the broad, rounded wings:

compare the mantle tone to that of the Laughing Gull at the left of the image:

note the two bands of paler feathers in the leading and trailing lesser underwing coverts:


note that the inner primaries are paler on both inner and outer webs:

Note that the outer web of R6 is pure white from the base until the two subterminal black notches:
